Kidex Academy offers toddler, preschool and kindergarten programs with core French in every classroom. All the classrooms offer enriched and stimulating environments for children to explore, learn and engage in social relationships. “We follow a developmental approach to learning in order to create individualized programming for every child,” owner Fred Rainville explains. “It is our belief that children should be respected and provided with opportunities to ask questions, inquire about relationships and learn in a safe and nurturing environment.” The newly renovated Oakville based learning academy follows the developmental approach, which encompasses the whole child and the vision that children develop skills and abilities in several domain areas at the same time and at varying rates. An individual profile is created for each child and parents are involved in the development of the profile and goal setting, which helps the teachers to create programming that, is developmentally appropriate for their child. “Our teachers sit down with parents every three months to track their child’s progress in the program,” Rainville explains. The key curriculum components include literacy, numeracy and the development of learning skills required for future academic success. All the classrooms are designed to stimulate each child’s natural curiosity to learn and explore. Sensory experiences engage the children in learning and allow them to fully explore and understand concepts of language, mathematics, science and social studies. French instruction, art exploration and music are also parts of the core curriculum. To ensure the students are receiving the best possible teaching available, all of toddler and preschool teachers are extensively trained in the area of child development and are continuously expanding their knowledge through professional development and continuing education. The enriched kindergarten program is staffed with teachers with Bachelor of Education Degrees, Ontario Teacher’s College Membership, and RECE qualifications.
