Leading a healthy, active lifestyle as a family can seem overwhelming. Busy schedules, limited time, and a lack of energy and resources are common barriers.
According to the 2016 YMCA Healthy Kids Report, 85% of Canadian parents find it difficult to set a healthy example. Parents surveyed agreed they are an important influence; however, only a few identified themselves as ‘excellent’ healthy role models for their children.
It’s difficult to do, but it’s never been more important. Many children in Canada still do not currently meet the recommended levels of daily physical activity, and obesity and chronic disease rates continue to rise. We need to change this!
Join us for YMCA Healthy Kids Day and find out how.
Bring your whole family to the Y on Sunday, June 3 and discover tons of free tools and resources to help you create a healthier lifestyle. This free community event will show you and your family how simple daily actions can make a huge impact.
With lots of fun and free activities all day long, YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a great way to take those first steps towards overcoming the common obstacles to better health that many parents today experience. YMCA Healthy Kids Day places special emphasis on teaching children, youth and their families about exploring healthy living habits that will make a difference throughout the year.
