Music Pups (0 - 3 years)
Fun filled classes of singing, dancing, movement and instrument play. Parents learn how to enrich their child's music environment, increase music potential and understand music development.

Music Cats (3 -5 years)
Music Cats® includes the same FUN spirit as Music Pups®, with more challenging activities designed to capitalize on the ability and creativity of "big kids". Each class is 45 minutes long. Families receive a copy of the current Music Pups CD and songbook plus an additional Music Cats practice CD.

Music for Little Mozarts (4-5 years)
Beginning piano instruction for young children in small groups with parents. Solfege singing, movement, music appreciation, theory and history are part of this program from Alfred music.
Wednesdays 5:30 pm

Celebrate Piano (6 - 7 years)
Beginning piano instruction for students in small groups with parents. This program prepares students for Royal Conservatory of Music graded curriculum upon completion.
Ear training, improvisation, composition are part of this well-paced, multi-key approach to music study.

Wednesdays 6:20 pm

About the teacher
Keisha Bell - Kovacs has 10 years experience, offering piano and theory lessons to students up to grade 9 level. Her students successfully compete in local music festivals and all achieve honours results on conservatory exams. She has also performed and
composed for the Rotary Music Festival, as well as played in various bands and weddings over the years.

What is Descubre el Español con Santillana?

Descubre el español con Santillana is a comprehensive Elementary Spanish program designed to promote, support, and enhance education in the Foreign Language in the Elementary School.

• Explores not only the language, but also the cultures of twenty Spanish-speaking countries.
• Creates as much interest in the culture as it does in the language, thus promoting student's interest.
• Makes second language acquisition fun and easy through Spanish listening, reading, speaking and writing activities.

August Business Feature: Enza Day Spa featured on Oakville Moms

The drab gray professional building at the end of Lyons Lane is unassuming and a bit boring. You’d never guess that the Enza Day Spa was hidden within unless you were in the know.

But I’m one of the informed, learning about this South African day spa from both a friend and my hairdresser who raved about how much they loved it. It’s been on my list of places I needed to check out for a while!
Plus, I kept seeing Enza’s name popping up in the newspaper. They always seem to be hosting, attending, or supporting something - they were nominated as community builder of the year by the Oakville Awards for Business Excellence. Most recently, they ran a successful variety show in support of Autism that raised over $3000.

Enza is divided into two floors, with the kid’s spa and reception located upstairs. It’s a smart move as it keeps strangers from wandering into the spa. The staff at Enza are friendly, knowledgeable, and very down to earth. There’s such a positive feel to everything they do, and I never once felt uncomfortable or pressured to buy anything. You feel as if you’re coming home to visit with old friends.

The spa is located downstairs, and is elevator assessable for those with mobility issues. When the heavy door close behind me, you can’t help but sigh in contentment – the sense of serenity is instantaneous. You feel like you’ve stepped out of Canada and into the savannah of South Africa!

I see why they don’t want any windows in here, it would spoil the illusion that I’ve magically stepped into a South African paradise. When I close my eyes during a pedicure, I can almost imagine that I don’t have to go back to work this afternoon or figure out what to make for dinner. I can sip my Rooibos tea in my fluffy robe while my feet are being massaged and listen to the soft call of birds while being pampered like the goddess I am.

There’s also a kid’s spa upstairs decorated in vibrant greens and zebra print that I know my daughter would love! Plus, the attitude towards manis and pedis for kids is strongly focused on creativity and not on prettification – a detail that I really appreciate. I suspect my daughter would choose a sassy pink zebra print nail design.

You can also check out their website – at enza.ca -which really reflects the overall atmosphere at the Enza Day Spa. I love that they have their prices listed on the web and their ‘about us’ page is an enlightening read! Enza also has a strong social media presence, with active twitter and facebook pages. My favourite part was their youtube page, as I love the blend of hilarious, informative, and touching videos that I found there.
                                 

Going to Enza isn’t just relaxing, it’s healing. I had a spring in my step after my visit and I can’t wait until I can go back.

The Oakville School of Music & Performing Arts is an independent music school that focuses on providing high quality music education to students ages 4+.

The OSMPA is now accepting fall registration and students can choose between private or group classes.

Featured today is OSMPA's Group Piano Class (Ages 4-6). The class is offered at the following times beginning September 2013:
Monday's 4:30pm-5:30pm OR
Wednesday's 4:30pm-5:30pm

Our group piano classes are especially designed for children ages 4 to 6 and give students the opportunity to explore music in a fun and educational environment. Each student will have his/her own keyboard to work on. This class is designed for children who are completely new to the piano, as well for children who are within their first year of piano studies. This class is inspired by the Casa Montessori method of education, and students will have both individual and group projects.

In addition to the piano, students will also take part in:
Rhythm and movement activities, singing, music listening, introduction to composers, and music theory. There are a limited number of spots, due to the nature of the class. Please book your spot early to ensure a spot!

Composition. Scene poster with situation, action and theme. Types of compositions: presentation of a character, situation or theme and tentative or teaser trailer.
Thursday
Comic strip! Let's draw some scenes and comic vignettes! Different perspectives in the composition of a scene. How to make it attractive, original, and balanced.
Friday
Finishing the comic and reading other's comics.
