Participants 11-14 years old, the week of August 10th-14th.
Participants 6-10 years old, the week of August 17th-21st.

- Sculpture in clay.
- Oil painting on canvas.
- Fundamentals of drawing with model using graphite.
- Fundamentals of photography, Studio and outdoors.

The Studio has put a number of safety measures in place to increase comfort and to try to make the experience more rewarding and safe for participating students.
The class size will be of 5 attendees maximum so we can practice physical distancing.

4Cats Arts Studio - West Oakville and Oakville - the best, most fun art studios ever!

Why Art is Good… Art awakens the imagination and allows the magic in! Art is very important for young children as it develops focus and attention, good hand-eye coordination, and builds self-esteem. More than 33% of children are visual learners and it has been shown that when art is integrated with other curriculum areas, children actually become more engaged in the process. Art, not only teaches children to take risks and to learn from one’s mistakes, but to see that there can be more than one solution to the same problem. It fosters open-ended thinking and creates an environment of questions rather than answers. Art teaches children to learn to explore playfully, without a preconceived plan, learning from accidents and being surprised by the outcome.

At 4Cats Arts Studios, kids get to work in a variety of mediums, taking inspiration from the works of famous artists. If we are studying Picasso, we create acrylic on canvas cubist paintings and ceramics. If we are studying Vincent Van Gogh, we create acrylic on canvas paintings using modeling paste and quick brush strokes, just like Van Gogh did, himself. We also throw in a lot of age-appropriate art history! Trained in Fine Arts, our professional curators are able to tell captivating and inspiring stories in a fun and humorous manner about the life and work of the artist being introduced, creating an environment that encourages the love of learning, creativity, and fun! The name, 4Cats, is inspired by the 4Cats Cafe in Barcelona, Spain. The 4Cats Cafe (Els Quatre Gats) is the place where Picasso went with artist, poet and philosopher friends to discuss art and life and make, and show, great art! This is what we do, create masterpieces and talk about art!

1) ECO-CREATIVITY Camp
July 15th-19th, 2013 from 10-11:30 am
MONDAY:
Reusing Cardboard
Chevron On a Cardboard
The children make this special piece of art using this very ancient geometrical figure (inverted V or zig-zag) in a piece of cardboard with acrylic paint.
TUESDAY:
Reusing Styrofoam Trays
The children will use Styrofoam trays to make different printings.
WEDNESDAY:
Reusing Plastic Bottles
The children bring their empty plastic water bottles to make a Self-Watering Pots to plant some seeds.
Also they are going to make plastic bottle beads to make a very colorful bracelet.
THURSDAY:
Reusing Ceral Boxes
The children will bring their own empty cereal box to make very useful and beautiful Garden Stepping Stones.
FRIDAY:
Reusing Pieces of Wood and Fabric
The children will make their own stamps using different materials on a piece of wood having their unique patterns on kitchen towels.

2) MANGA Summer Camp!

Monday
How to draw Manga/Cartoon human body and its movements. Basic human positions and how does it move without losing its proportion. Actions.
Tuesday
How to draw faces and expressions. Proportion in the face, types of eyes, mouths and noses. Different situations that can cause expressions, movements and deformation in the face. Different emotions.
Wednesday           
Composition. Scene poster with situation, action and theme. Types of compositions: presentation of a character, situation or theme and tentative or teaser trailer.
Thursday
Comic strip! Let’s draw some scenes and comic vignettes! Different perspectives in the composition of a scene. How to make it attractive, original, and balanced.
Friday
Finishing the comic and reading other’s comics.

Fee $15 per day (you can choose your days) or $70 the whole week
