Since 1994 the Academy of Music has taught over 5000 students ranging in age from 3 to adults in Oakville Ontario. We offer private music lessons on piano, pre-school piano, guitar, voice, violin, viola, ukulele, drums, saxophone, clarinet, and flute - All in one location!

 

Are we the right music school for you?

1. Music lessons on all popular instruments:  Piano, Guitar, Voice, Violin, Viola, Ukulele, Drums, Bass, Flute, Saxophone, and Clarinet.

Highly qualified teaching staff:  Our teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as York University, Western University, Humber College, Mohawk College, and the University of Toronto. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of Canada, the US, and Europe.

5. Month to Month Lessons: The Academy does not require full semester registration for lessons. Every student here is on a month-to-month basis.

Children will be encouraged to make music through singing, movement and improvisation. Proper physical technique will be taught in an informal manner. This class will use materials from Music Moves for Piano, based on the research of Edwin Gordon. Children will not be learning to read music, but will learn to play folk songs by rote. Viva Piano Studio Summer Camp

Viva Piano Studio Summer Camps 2013 114 Herald Ave, Oakville 905-825-4168 We've Got Rhythm! Dates: July 15 - 19, Time: 9 - 12 pm Ages 4 - 7 years, no previous musical experience required Explore rhythm using a variety of instruments such as drums, boomwhackers and the homemade kind too! Great for children who are starting music lessons in the fall. Games, crafts and snacks included. Cost: $150 before May 30/$175 after, siblings 10% off Movies & Music Dates: July 15 - 19 Time: 1 pm - 4 pm Ages 8 and up, minimum 1 year of piano lessons Silent films are popular again, with films such as Hugo and The Artist as recent hits. Learn how to accompany a short silent classic using your repertoire, or learn something new. We will not only score a film, but have the chance to write and produce a short silent film of our own. Performance/screening will take place on the last day. Class size, 6 students max. Cost: $150 before May 30/$175 after, siblings 10% off Keyboard Rock Band Dates: August 12-16th Time 9 -12 pm or 1- 4pm Piano playing ability: Grade 1 Experience a rock band jam session using keyboards and percussion instruments. Pianist and drummer David Story will develop a big band sound with students over the course of the session, with a performance for families on the last day. OSMPA - Oakville School of Music & Performing Arts

Oakville School of Music is an independent music school that provides students with the opportunity to excel in music education. Our school offers private and group instruction at all levels to students wishing to begin, develop, and further progress in music education. Classes begin for students ages 4 and up on the following instruments: piano, voice, violin, flute, guitar and ukulele.

Summer Camps 2013

The OSMPA is excited to offer a wide range of summer camps that foster musical develop in a fun group environment.

OSMPA’s piano camps are designed to foster growth in individual musicians, including skills in rhythm and ear training, while mastering pieces in a group environment. The OSMPA’s unique Piano Fingers Mini Camp will continue to be offered this year for students ages 4 to 6, and new this year is the Intermediate Piano Camp for students ages 7 to 11. Both camps are ideal for students completely new to the piano or are within their first year of playing.

Each camper will have his/her own keyboard to practice on throughout the week and in addition you can expect the following group activities: group piano classes, rhythm and movement games, singing, music listening, introduction to composers, crafts, and music theory games.

There are a limited number of spots, due to the nature of the programming. Please book your spot early to ensure a spot in the camp! An early bird registration discount is offered up until May 15th 2013.
