Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre

The Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre
The Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre
This beautiful centre provides children with an incredible opportunity to learn, grow and develop in a nurturing environment. Recently purchased by Edleun (Education Learning Universe), this centre has witnessed visible improvements to the facility, menu and curriculum in the past 12 months. Still serving children as young as 6 weeks in a full day setting to children as old as 12 years in a before and after school program, the Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre strives to set itself apart from anything considered ordinary.

Known for their fully bi-lingual programming, the Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre offers French in every classroom with a fully fluent French speaking teacher. This program is perfect for children planning on attending a French Immersion elementary school. Along with the French speaking instructor, you'll find a fully trained, experienced and nurturing E.C.E. (Early Childhood Educator). For children not planning to attend French Immersion, the benefits of exposure to another language are plentiful and long lasting. Developmental programs are in place for infants and toddlers, where milestones are tracked and recorded to ensure every child unlocks their true potential. In the pre-school and kindergarten rooms, you'll find the Frog Street Curriculum educating their children on the values of respect, community and friendship - all while learning mathematics, language and socialization skills. Every morning begins with a community circle, a welcome message and a positive commitment for the day. Games, activities, songs and experiments fill up the daily schedule to allow their children to fully learn and develop through a play based environment.

Knowing how extremely important proper nutrition is to both the physical and mental well-being of growing children, Edleun has partnered with a Registered Dietician and Nutritionist. Andrea Holwegner of Health Stand Nutrition Consulting Inc. certifies their menu, ingredients in their menu and provides proper substitutions in case of personal beliefs or allergies. Their meals are made in-house, fresh daily and from scratch. Their full meal program is included at every age group (an example of a meal plan would be their Fish Sticks. Whole fish are cut into fillets, breaded using eggs, milk and bread crumbs, and then baked in the oven until done. This is served alongside rice, steamed broccoli, cauliflower, fresh fruit and a glass of milk).

This Centre is located at 20 Shepherd Road (just off of Speers Rd and Kerr St), a quick 3 minute drive to the Oakville Go-Train Station. They offer convenient operating hours for commuting parents and are open from 6:45am to 6:00pm. Knowing how important fun and safe before and out of school care is, they also offer care to children enrolled at Patricia Picknell, Pinegrove, Oakwood and St.Marie.

In order to experience the full breadth of benefits this Centre can provide your family, the Oakville Learning & Childcare Centre warmly invites and encourages all interested parents to call and schedule a visit. You might be amazed at what you'll find.

Forest Grove Preschool Academy of Arts and Technology featured on Oakville Moms

Forest Grove Preschool Academy of Arts and Technology
as it is known today began as the brainchild of two educators, Alicja Podgorska and Karen Chaplin, who met in 1992, and worked as educators in Montessori schools in the Toronto area. Alicja and Karen knew what was missing in the education of young children, and they had a dream to open a school, where children’s imagination could flourish, wher...e focus was on the potential of the individual, and where hands-on, nature-based activities ignited the children’s curiosity. They wanted to offer a more challenging curriculum that would take children to a higher level, emotionally, physically and intellectually. That dream became reality in June of 1999, when Forest Grove’s doors opened for the first time.

At Forest Grove, our Reggio Emilia-inspired program is founded on the recognition and respect of each and every child as a unique and capable individual. Through an interest-based and child-directed curriculum, we encourage their inquisitive nature and curiosity. As educators, we learn along with them, supporting and facilitating their exploration academically, creatively and socially.
Collaboration is the cornerstone of this philosophy. Communication between children, educators and parents is essential in creating a space and a program that encourages a lifelong love of learning.

Forest Grove takes great pride in its mission to explore the best practices in education, and we welcome your child to join us on this stimulating journey.
